Youtube Ceases IE6 Support!

No, that’s not a typo! I think we are getting rid of it, finally. I don’t know how many hours of development time has been lost because of that so-called “browser”. I know, that may sound harsh but if you are one of those “if it is even remotely like working, and even if there is an obvious way to fix it, don’t do anything until it completely breaks” type conservative guys who still use IE6; you should know that it’s finally broken! Well, at least it will, and on a very popular web site: Youtube, won’t try to fix anything for IE6 users anymore and this means, if any new functionality is added, IE6 will most probably fail to show the page properly. IE6 users will be greeted with a warning message like this one:

The warning message Youtube generates when viewed with IE6

The warning message Youtube generates when viewed with IE6

I’ve also checked the page with IE5.5 and seen the future of IE6:

IE 5 even fails to display the warning message correctly

IE 5 even fails to display the warning message correctly

Needless to say, I’ve already started to wait for the same thing to happen to IE7! “Why should I update my browser? I just use it to watch videos on youtube and such…” is not a valid argument anymore! Please, everyone, start using Firefox!

But this doesn’t mean that the browser won’t function anymore. It’s just a small step…
